Jared Newman (born March 7, 1982) Lincoln Park, MI, is a former American professional ice hockey player. He was drafted in the 4th round (110th Overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. ==Playing career== Newman played for the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors of the North American Hockey League during the 1997-98 season. During the 1998-99 season, Newman joined the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Newman played for four seasons with the Whalers, and was captain from 2000-2002. In 2002, Newman was selected to play for the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League. Newman played for the Everblades during the 2002-03 season and part of the 2003-04 season, before going to play for the former Lowell Lock Monsters (now Lowell Devils) of the American Hockey League.
